Time and money¶
Time on the API routes¶
Times in answers are ISO 8601 in UTC, such as 2026-11-05T22:00:00.000Z.
The seating area search takes startDateTime and endDateTime. They must include Z or a UTC
offset, such as 2026-07-24T18:00:00-04:00. The range picks events that overlap it. It does not pick
time slots.
Business dates¶
A venue's day starts at its business start time, in its own time zone, not at midnight UTC. The
businessDate on a guest list import is a date on that venue's calendar.
Each venue has a timezone, such as America/New_York. Use it to show local times.
Time on the venue routes¶
Most times are ISO 8601 in UTC. These are different:
| Field | Format | Example |
|---|---|---|
startDateTime, endDateTime on events |
yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss, in UTC with no zone mark |
2026-11-06 03:00:00 |
bookingStartTime, bookingEndTime on orders |
The same | 2026-11-06 03:00:00 |
beginSale, endSale on ticket types |
The same | 2026-11-01 15:00:00 |
dateTime and eventEndDate on the publisher feed |
See Event publisher feeds |
lastSyncedAt must be exactly yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ss.SSS'Z', such as 2026-11-01T00:00:00.000Z.
The syncedAt we send back is already in that format.
GET /partners/events takes a timezone header, used for its time filters. Without a valid one it
uses America/Chicago. Send your venue's time zone.
Money¶
Amounts are numbers in the venue's currency, in whole units with decimals: 120.5 means one hundred
twenty and a half dollars for a US venue. We never convert between currencies. So never add up
amounts from venues with different currencies.
Use the amounts we send. Do not work out fees or totals yourself, because each venue sets its own fees and taxes.
The venue list on the API does not include the currency today. Agree on it with your Speakeasy
contact. On the venue routes, GET /partners/events?include=venue.venueSettings returns it as
venue.venueSettings.currencyCode.
A percentage deposit is a percentage, not an amount: see depositType in
Show events and tables.
Money on orders, reservations and guests¶
These three routes answer money as a whole number in the currency's smallest unit, with currency next
to it. So 1999 with USD is $19.99, 1999 with JPY is 1,999 yen (yen has no smaller unit), and
10125 with KWD is 10.125 dinar. The number of decimals follows ISO 4217. Rupiah has two, so
Rp 150,000 is 15000000. The seating area search still answers money in whole currency units, as before.
currency is the venue's setting when we answer, not stored with each order.
